Nancy is known as "The Connector." As the Founding Publisher & Market Director for Sensi Magazine, California, she built a vast network of professionals. With her numerous years of experience in PR & Marketing and Masters degree in Organizational Development, Nancy has impacted hundreds of businesses. She recently retired from her publisher role, and is currently a digital nomad, cruising her catamaran in the Caribbean. She continues to assist companies by providing them with introductions to strategic partners, funding, and precious resources, and as an advisor to a number of startups.
Nancy has been combining her love of adventure travel, sailing, Marketing and Public Relations for most of her life. She applies her engaging & adventuresome personality, along with her sense of humor and passion for life to help her clients make marketing more effective and grow their businesses.
Nancy grew up sailing and racing on the Chesapeake Bay with her Uncle George, out of the Maryland YC in Annapolis. After graduating high school, she moved all the way across the country to San Francisco where she earned both her BA and Masters Degrees from San Francisco State University. Often hanging out on the docks in Sausalito, she crewed when she could and began learning the San Francisco Bay. In 1998, she went to a "Mexico-Only" crew party at the Alameda YC, for the now legendary, Baja Ha Ha Cruisers Rally . There she met her mate, Jann Hedrick, and was chosen to fill out the crew of the CT 49 - 'Orion.' Ten months later, Nancy set sail from San Francisco Bay onboard Jann's good 'ol boat - 'SAGA,' a 1964 Alberg 35. Five years later, they landed in South Florida, where Nancy's Mom was in need of help with health issues.
Nancy's first job in the Marine/Cruising/Yachting/Boating Industry was as Editor for the SSCA's 'Commodore's Bulletin,' where she helped to redesign the website, and grow membership. Subsequently, she took on editor positions with Blue Water Sailing Magazine (Online Editor, Cruising Compass), Southern Boating Magazine (Managing Editor), and Yachting Times Magazine, the first bi-lingual boating mag! (Tech & Gear Column).
Jann & Nancy decided to move back to California in order to buy their dream house in the Redwoods of west Sonoma County, and in 2012 they made the drive back across the country. It took a couple of years to find the perfect home, but they did just that and loved living in Sonoma County for the past 12 years.
But alas, the sea called once again, and it was good timing for Nancy to retire as Publisher for Sensi Magazine and they were quick to decide to sell their property so that they could buy the boat that Nancy had dreamt about while still in Florida - a Leopard 40.
It's great to be back on the water!
